$264 Million Mega Millions Jackpot Up for Grabs on Friday the 13th; A Historically Lucky Day for Michigan Lottery Mega Millions Players

The Mega Millions game has been particularly lucky for lottery players in Michigan on Friday the 13th, with four lucky players winning the game’s jackpot on what many consider to be a cursed day. Those four jackpots totaled $171 million in winnings.

  • June 13, 2008 – $57 million jackpot, won by a Kent City man
  • May 13, 2011 – $27 million jackpot, won by a Kalamazoo man
  • June 13, 2014 – $66 million jackpot, won by a Port Huron woman
  • Oct. 13, 2017 – $21 million jackpot, won by a Waterford man

Michigan Lottery players will have a shot at a $264 million Mega Millions jackpot on Friday the 13th. The cash option for the jackpot is $117.3 million.

The Mega Millions jackpot was last won in Michigan in January 2021 by an Oakland County lottery club. The club won a $1.05 billion Mega Millions jackpot. That jackpot was the largest ever won in Michigan.

Lottery retailers throughout the state are selling Mega Millions tickets until 10:45 p.m. Friday. Tickets also may be purchased online at Michiganmilotteryconnect.bingoextra.net.

Mega Millions plays may be purchased for $5 each at Lottery retailers across the state and online at Michiganmilotteryconnect.bingoextra.net. Each wager includes a built-in multiplier that multiplies non-jackpot prizes up to 10 times to a maximum of $10 million. Mega Millions tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Montcalm County Woman Wins $130,000 Fantasy 5 Jackpot from the Michigan Lottery

Elizabeth LaCroix, of Edmore, matched the Fantasy 5 numbers in the May 27 drawing to win the big prize: 04-05-06-08-12. She bought her winning ticket online at Michiganmilotteryconnect.bingoextra.net.

“I have been playing Fantasy 5 for a while and I always buy my tickets online,” said LaCroix. “I was at work when an email from the Michigan Lottery came up on my phone saying I won a prize. I assumed it was a few dollars, but I logged in to my to see how much I’d won.

“When I saw $130,000 in my balance, I started screaming! I showed my coworker to make sure I was seeing things right and then sent a screenshot to my husband. It was hard to get back to work after because I was so shaken up!”

LaCroix, 56, recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim her jackpot. With her winnings, she plans to add an addition on to her house.

Each Fantasy 5 play is only $1. For an additional $1 per play, EZmatch may be added to a Fantasy 5 ticket, giving players a chance to win up to $500 instantly. For an additional $1 per play, Double Play may be added to a Fantasy 5 ticket, giving players a second chance to win up to $110,000 in the nightly Double Play drawing. Players may win prizes in the regular nightly drawing, the Double Play drawing, or both. Fantasy 5 players select five numbers from one to 39. Players who match all five Fantasy 5 numbers drawn win a jackpot that starts at $100,000.

Fantasy 5 drawings are held seven days a week at 7:29 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at a retailer or online at Michiganmilotteryconnect.bingoextra.net until 7:08 p.m. on the day of the drawing.

Monroe County Woman Wins $500,000 Playing the Michigan Lottery’s Fantastic 5’s Instant Game

“I look at the remaining prizes page on Michiganmilotteryconnect.bingoextra.net to see which games have top prizes that haven’t been claimed and saw Fantastic 5’s had all three top prizes left which is why I bought the ticket,” said the 62-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous. “The next morning, I ed I hadn’t scratched the ticket yet, so I scratched it while I was drinking coffee before work.

“When I saw I’d won $500,000, I think I turned green! It was awesome and my husband and I truly could not believe it.”

The player bought her winning ticket at Tony’s Country Store, located at 8503 Secor Road in Lambertville. Lambertville is about 40 miles south of Ann Arbor. She recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim her prize. With her winnings, she plans to pay bills and then save the remainder.

Players have won more than $12 million playing Fantastic 5’s, which launched in July 2024. Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $500,000. More than $19 million in prizes remain, including two $500,000 top prizes, six $10,000 prizes, and 13 $2,000 prizes.

In 2024, Lottery players won nearly $1.8 billion playing instant games.

Osceola County Woman Wins $412,171 Club Keno The Jack Prize from the Michigan Lottery

Donna Keathley, of Evart, matched her easy pick The Jack numbers – 02-04-14-16-23-25-62-68-76 – to nine of the 20 Club Keno numbers drawn in draw 2468174. She bought her winning ticket at Murphy’s Bar, located at 32 East Northern Avenue in Barryton. Barryton is about 30 miles northwest of Mount Pleasant.

“I play Club Keno often, but I’ve never played The Jack,” said Keathley. “I decided to add it on to my ticket that day because the jackpot was up there and to try something new.

“Shortly after buying my ticket, I saw someone had won because the jackpot reset to $10,000. We were with a group of people, and they scanned their tickets first. I scanned mine last, and there it was – $412,171! It was shocking and pretty surreal because I’m usually not very lucky.”

Keathley, 65, visited Lottery headquarters to claim her big prize. With her winnings, she plans to pay bills and then save the remainder.

The Jack is a Club Keno add-on game that players may add to their Club Keno wager for $1 per draw. With The Jack, players get nine easy pick numbers to match to the Club Keno numbers drawn. Players may win prizes ranging from $1 to the jackpot. The jackpot starts at $10,000 and grows until it is won. To win the jackpot, players must match all nine numbers.

A suggestion from a store clerk led to an Upper Peninsula woman winning $500,000 playing the Michigan Lottery’s 50X Wild Time instant game!

“I don’t play scratch off tickets a lot, but I do buy one every once in a while,” said Amanda Hughes of Gwinn. “When I was at the store, I asked for the $20 Wild Time game, but they had sold out of it, so the clerk suggested 50X Wild Time.

“When I scratched the ticket off and saw the prize of $500,000, I wasn’t sure if it was real at first. I thought I must not have read the instructions correctly, so I reread them and then went back into the store to scan the ticket and have the clerk look at it. It was surreal when I realized I really had just won $500,000!”

Winning TicketHughes, 42, bought her winning ticket at Kwik Trip, located at 301 M-553 in Marquette. She recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim her prize. With her winnings, she plans to buy a house and then save the remainder for her children.

“I still can’t believe this is real! This money is going to be life changing for my family.”

Players have won more than $67 million playing 50X Wild Time, which launched in February 2024. Each $10 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $10 up to $500,000. More than $24 million in prizes remain, including 52 $10,000 prizes and 96 $1,000 prizes.
